Augmentation Evoker DPS Easy Mode — The War Within (11.0.5)
On this page, we explain how to easily play Augmentation Evoker in World of Warcraft — The War Within (11.0.5), using the simplest rotation, talent tree, stat priority, gear setup, etc., without sacrificing performance.
Foreword
This page is intended for players who are new to the game or class, have no intentions of raiding Mythic difficulty, or simply want a more straightforward way to play their specialization without being overwhelmed by the numerous subtleties and active abilities that need to be taken into consideration for optimal play.
The Basics of Augmentation Evoker in The War Within
The Augmentation Evoker playstyle is very fluid, revolving around buffing others then casting your damaging spells to extend your buffs.
Blizzard implemented auto-targeting features for Augmentations buffs to make the class as welcoming as possible for newer players. For example, while targeting an enemy, casting Prescience will default to the nearest DPS and Blistering Scales will target the enemies current target.
In Mythic+, you do not have to worry about target selection of your buffs at all, as they will mostly automatically cast on the correct targets. Manual targeting of your buffs in Mythic+ is at most a 1% DPS gain, for more information see the Mythic+ Guide linked below:
While optimization of who you buff in a raid is possible, it is definitely not necessary to enjoy the class. For more information on who to buff if you wish to optimize, see our page on Buff Targeting linked below:
For more information on what each spell does for Augmentation Evoker, we have linked the page below, which goes into more detail on this:

Basic Rotation for Augmentation Evokers
The priority system for Augmentation Evoker is not very complicated as a whole, as you are focusing on several short cooldown abilities and filling the gaps with Living Flame. However, delaying casts of Prescience or Ebon Might can lead to large DPS losses quickly. It is important to only use Empower spells during Ebon Might.
- Cast Prescience
- Cast Ebon Might
- Cast Breath of Eons
- Cast Tip the Scales
- Cast Fire Breath at empower level 3 if Ebon Might is up.
- Cast Upheaval at empower level 1 if Ebon Might is up.
- Cast Eruption if Ebon Might is up or you have 2 Essence Burst or capped Essence.
- Cast Living Flame
- If you need to move whilst casting, use Hover. If you have no charges of Hover left, then use Azure Strike.
Defensive Spells for Augmentation Evoker
All of Augmentation Evokers Defensive spells are proactive. You need to use them before damage happens to get maximum effect and do not do anything if used afterward.
Defy Fate is a cheat death effect that will save you from dying once every six minutes.
Obsidian Scales is your bread and butter defensive, offering 30% damage reduction on a 90s cooldown with 2 charges thanks to Obsidian Bulwark.
Renewing Blaze is your other main defensive cooldown. Renewing Blaze heals you for damage you take during the effect which is a very powerful effect vs anything that does not outright kill you. This ability is incredible vs DOT effects.
Rescue acts as another defensive and an external due to the talent Twin Guardian providing both you and the player you Rescue a 30% health absorb for 5 seconds. This ability is harder to use than your other defensives but when used well can be a huge boon to any team you play with.
Zephyr reduces the area damage taken by you and the 4 nearest allies by 20%. Due to affecting 5 people this is incredibly strong even if it only applies to AOE damage. Most encounters have heavy-hitting AOEs that this is very good against.
Warp with Temporality ( Chronowarden Hero Talents) provides 20% decaying Damage Reduction, losing 2% every 0.3s.
