Children's Week 2024 Guide for World of Warcraft
Table of Contents
In all likelihood, Children's Week is the World of Warcraft counterpart of Children's Day, a Japanese celebration that is traditionally held on the 5th of May.
In World of Warcraft, the event is about taking care of a few children made orphans by the many wars that Azeroth has known in recent times.
The event mostly revolves around you travelling through Azeroth with the orphans you are taking care of, showing them the places they have always dreamt to see.
Overview
The Children's Week is a rather short event during which you will mostly spend your time travelling with orphans in order to complete the 3 quest lines proposed. In addition, you will probably spend a lot of time doing Battlegrounds to complete one of the achievements that is particularly hard to do (depending on your proficiency at PvP).

In 2019, 4 new pets were added to the event: Beakbert, Enchanted Saurolisk Scale, Sandy Hermit Crab Shell, and Slimy Pouch. You can get them from two new quest lines that involve Kul Tiran and Zandalari children.
Date and Timeline
The Children's Week is a 1-week event (as its name suggests). This year, the event starts on April 29 and ends on May 13th.
There are no daily tasks, so the entire event can be completed in a single day, if you wish to do so.
Locations
The 3 quest lines start in Stormwind/Orgrimmar, Shattrath, and Dalaran respectively. From there, you will have to travel through Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, Outland, and Northrend. Doing the quests with a Mage, being a Mage, being an Engineer, or being a Mage Engineer will considerably reduce the time you will spend travelling.
Eligibility
For the Stormwind/Orgrimmar quest line, you need to be level 10.
For the Shattrath quest line, you need to be level 35.
For the Northrend quest line, you need to be level 35.
Orphans
Orphans are NPCs that will accompany you while you are doing the quest lines. Each quest line has a specific orphan that you will be able to summon and dismiss at will. They behave like non-combat pets, in the sense that they cannot be attacked or killed.
Rewards
The Children's Week event rewards pets and achievements.
Pets
The Children's Week is made up of 3 Quest Lines. Each quest line can only be done once a year per character and gives you a pet as a reward to choose among several. Therefore, you will need to complete these quest lines on several characters to gather all the pet rewards (they are account bound). If you only complete the event on one character, gathering the rewards will take you 4 years.

Kul Tiran/Zandalari Quest Lines
In Battle for Azeroth, Blizzard added new quest lines to Kul Tiras and Zandalar that reward one of the following four pets: Beakbert, Enchanted Saurolisk Scale, Sandy Hermit Crab Shell, and Slimy Pouch.

Achievements How-To
Aw, Isn't It Cute?
Aw, Isn't It Cute? will be automatically earned after finishing any of the three quest lines that make up the event.
Bad Example
Bad Example requires you to eat the following food while your orphan is with you:
- Tigule and Foror's Strawberry Ice Cream
- sold by Alowicious Czervik in Orgrimmar, in front of the Broken Tusk between the Auction House and the main gate;
- sold by Emmithue Smails in Stormwind, between the Bank and the Auction House in the Trade District.

Daily Chores
Daily Chores simply requires you to complete five daily quests while your orphan is with you.
Note that your orphan only needs to be there when you turn in the quests, not when you are actually doing them.
Hail To The King, Baby
Hail To The King, Baby simply requires you to kill King Ymiron in Utgarde Pinnacle while your orphan is with you.
Home Alone
Home Alone is very simple and requires you to use your Hearthstone while your orphan is with you.
School of Hard Knocks
In 2022, School of Hard Knocks is no longer required for the For The Children meta-achievement.
School of Hard Knocks requires you to achieve various feats in Battlegrounds while your orphan is with you. There is a lot of controversy surrounding this achievement, as many players join Battlegrounds during Children's Week and only focus on completing School of Hard Knocks rather than trying to play the Battleground properly.
In any case, School of Hard Knocks is very hard to complete, as you need to achieve the following feats (while your orphan is with you):
- Capture the flag in Eye of the Storm;
- Assault a flag in Arathi Basin;
- Assault a tower in Alterac Valley;
- Return a fallen flag in Warsong Gulch.
The difficulty mostly comes from the number of players who will want to complete their objective at the same time as you, especially in Alterac Valley.
Veteran Nanny
Veteran Nanny will require you to complete the Shattrath quest line with the same character in 3 different years, each time choosing a different pet reward.
Conclusion
We hope that this guide will have answered every question you had about the Children's Week. If not, we encourage you to leave a comment or contact us by e-mail, we will be happy to address the issue you encountered.
