Unlocking Content in Dawntrail
Dawntrail has a plethora of new content you can unlock, whether it's new jobs, new raids, and even a free Fantasia for everyone! On this page, we'll document where you can unlock everything and link to any relevant guides on the subject matter.
Jobs
Viper and Pictomancer are the two newest jobs in Final Fantasy XIV. Released in Dawntrail, they start at level 80 and require a Disciple of War or Magic already at level 80 or above to unlock.
Viper
Among the myriad beasts of Tural, a select few awaken to preternatural power, becoming what are known as tural vidraal. To overcome the threat of these almighty beings, hunters studied one of nature's deadliest predators─one capable of overcoming foes greater even than themselves: the viper. They are swift and agile, with dual blades like fangs to bite, or combine into a single weapon to weave about the battlefield. Named for the serpent that inspired their fighting style, the vipers of Tural remain steadfast in their duty to defend the people.
Viper is unlocked at Ul'Dah - Steps of Nald (x9.3, y9.2) by talking to the Worried Weaver. The quest is called "Enter the Viper."
Pictomancer
Though the Fifth Astral Era is most famously associated with the War of the Magi, a wealth of lesser-known legends were forged in that bygone age. Among them is the tale of Archon Relm, an itinerant artist and mage who relinquished her traditional staff for a magicked brush. With it, she would render abstract images to life, establishing an entirely new school of magic in so doing. Masters of this arcane discipline follow in the Archon's footsteps, wielding vibrant hues of aether to invoke all manner of fantastical beasts, weapons, and landscapes from their mind's eye─for the source of a pictomancer's power lies not in their artistic skill, but the richness of their imagination, with which they strive to paint a brighter future.
Pictomancer is unlocked at Old Gridania (x8.0, y10.3) by talking to the Cheerless Hearer. The quest is called "The Joy of Pictomancy."
Dungeons
Dawntrail will release with a total of eight dungeons. Five of these are leveling dungeons are unlocked through the main scenario. Three of these are max-level dungeons, with one being unlocked through the main scenario and two unlocked after the main scenario is completed through sidequests. As these dungeons heavily spoil the story, you can see unlock conditions for each dungeon on our Dawntrail Dungeon hub instead of here.
Role Quests
Role Quests replace Job Quests from Shadowbringers and beyond and tell a unique tale within the expansion's story. As the name suggests, there is one set of role quests for each role, and a final quest chain once players have completed all five, though the final quest chain will not release with Dawntrail.
To unlock Role Quests, players must complete the quest "Uncouth Customers" located at Tuliyollal (x12.4, y14.5) by talking to the NPC Br'uk Evu. This will be unlocked in the Dawntrail main scenario. Afterwards, players can start each role quest through the following quests.
- Tank: The Narwhal Beckons - Loazenikwe at Tuliyollal (x12.9, y15.0);
- Healer: In the Sting of Things - Nyipine at Tuliyollal (x12.0, y15.0);
- Melee DPS: The Hunter and the Hunted - Shashepya at Tuliyollal (x11.8, y14.0);
- Physical Ranged DPS: To Steal a Steelhog - Raholl Ja at Tuliyollal (x12.5, y15.0);
- Magical Ranged DPS: Power Forgotten - Tsuuhe at Tuliyollal (x12.8, y14.8).
Delivery Quests
Just like how Role Quests replaced Job Quests for Disciples of War and Magic, Delivery Quests replaced Class Quests for Disciples of Hand and Land. These give great rewards, and like role quests a final quest chain will be added later in Dawntrail's patch cycle.
To unlock Wachumeqimeqi Deliveries, Dawntrail's delivery quests, players must complete the quest "Wrought in Wachumeqimeqi" by talking to the NPC Ropli at Tuliyollal (x16.1, y11.1). This will be unlocked in the Dawntrail main scenario. In addition, players must have access to Scrips by completing the quest "Inscrutable Tastes" by talking to Morgayne in Foundation (x10.1, y10.4) with a Disciple of Hand or Land at level 50 or above. Keep in mind Wachumeqimeqi Deliveries require a Disciple of Hand or Land at level 90 or above. Afterwards, players can start each delivery quest through the following quests.
- XRral Soj Metalwares (BSM, ARM, GSM): Your Friendly Neighborhood Metalworker - Rral Soj at Tuliyollal (x16.9, y11.0);
- Epistles by Pameka (CRP, LTW, WVR): Pameka, the Scrivener - Pameka at Tuliyollal (x16.6, y11.3);
- Xeerol Ja Juicecraft (ALC, CUL): Blame It on My Juice - Xeerol Ja at Tuliyollal (x16.4, y11.0);

- Fish Fancies Donuhanu (FSH): Fishmonger Blues - Donuhanu at Tuliyollal (x17.1, y11.2).
Trials
Dawntrail will release with a total of five trials. Three of these will be unlocked during the main scenario and are story-driven duties. Two of these are Extreme trials, which are difficult duties that reward high-level gear. As these trials heavily spoil the story, you can see unlock conditions for each trial on our Dawntrail Trial hub instead of here.
Raids
The first raid tier, Arcadion: AAC Light-heavyweight was released with Patch 7.01. It can be unlocked through the quest "A New Challenger Approaches" by talking to the NPC Stylish Stranger in Solution Nine (x19.1, y18.8). Subsequent fights in the raid can be unlocked through completion of previous fights. The Savage version can be unlocked by talking to Gabbro in Solution Nine after completion of the normal mode story quests.
Stone, Sky, Sea: The Spire of Trial
The newest edition of Stone, Sky, Sea, a dummy encounter where players can test their damage-per-second (DPS) has been added for Dawntrail encounters. This can be unlocked at Solution Nine (x19.9, y17.1) at level 100 by talking to the Eccentric Researcher with the quest "Trial by Spire."
Flying
Flight in Dawntrail zones is unlocked by attuning to Aether Currents as per usual. We've documented the list of Aether Currents and Aether Current quests on our Dawntrail Flying page, but note that the page contains information about the new zones that are heavy spoilers! Make sure you don't read ahead and only look at the Aether Currents and quests for the zone you're currently on.
Hunts
Dawntrail's Hunts will be accessible as soon as players make it to Tuliyollal, although higher difficulty basic hunts will be locked behind quests available once you level up further. We've documented the list of quests below, but for more information, visit the Dawntrail Hunt page.
Quest | Level Requirement | Location | Unlocks |
---|---|---|---|
A New Dawn, a New Hunt | 90 | Wings of Protection Scout - Tuliyollal (x11.8, y13.7) | Junior Hunt |
Why We Hunt | 94 | Wings of Protection Scout - Tuliyollal (x11.8, y13.7) | Associate Hunt |

Elite B, A, and S Ranks are accessible as soon as players reach the new Dawntrail zones. However, the S Ranks for the first two zones will not release until a later patch.
Free Fantasia
As part of the graphical update in Dawntrail, every player is given a free Fantasia through a quest accessible early in the ARR main scenario. Fantasias are items purchased on the FFXIV Online Store that allow players to change the appearance of their character, which lasts for 60 in-game minutes in case players need to fix something about their character they missed.
To receive this free phial of Fantasia, players need to complete the quest "Bottled Fantasy" at Ul'Dah - Steps of Thal (x13.4, y9.2) by talking to the Medicine Merchant.
