Season of Discovery Enhancement Shaman DPS Guide
Welcome to our DPS Enhancement Shaman guide for WoW Classic - Season of Discovery, tailored for PvE content. Here, you will learn how to play the Shaman class as a DPS Enhancement Shaman. Click the links below to navigate the guide or read this page for a short introduction.
Overview
Shamans are typically brought to groups for their high utility and totem related buffs, such as Strength of Earth Totem, or Tremor Totem.
Enhancement in particular has always been the melee-focused specialization for Shamans, and this is still true in Season of Discovery, but they will also be able to do much more damage than before with the new abilities described below!
- Strong utility from totem buffs such as Windfury Totem and Strength of Earth Totem
- Near infinite Mana once Shamanistic Rage is unlocked with a significant part also applying to raid
- High burst damage, especially in PvP with Feral Spirit, Stormstrike, and Windfury Weapon
- Not available to the Alliance faction
- Mana starved until Shamanistic Rage is unlocked
- Mobility issues (especially considering totems are immobile) and susceptible to crowd control
Season of Discovery
Enhancement Shamans can finally dual-wield to DPS in Season of Discovery, and while this ability is immediately unlocked alongside the important Lava Lash rune, its true power is unlocked once Dual Wield Specialization is obtained!
Two-handed gameplay is also viable again when using the new Two-Handed Mastery rune, although it is not really strong enough to be recommended as an optimal PvE style.
Also, their old nemesis of Mana sustain can finally be overcome through the usage of Shamanistic Rage for massive Mana returns, making Enhancement play much smoother than it used to.
Fire Nova, Maelstrom Weapon, and Power Surge all have their use cases in the waist slot, and Spirit of the Alpha grants a big damage boost for Enhancement when cast on someone else.
Due to the new abilities and runes, the rotation, gearing options, and talent decisions recommended for Enhancement Shaman have changed and can be found in the guides in the Table of Content at the top of this page. Within these, you will find all the information you will need to master this new game mode!
Profession Changes
The best profession to have as an Enhancement Shaman is Engineering. It provides powerful items that you can use in both PvE and PvP content to either deal damage and generate threat, or help you get out of a tough spot.
Leatherworking is also a great choice for Enhancement Shaman due to special bind on pickup crafts such as Glowing Gneuro-Linked Cowl and Cacophonous Chain Shoulderguards, with further BoP crafts expected down the line.
Rune Engravings for Enhancement Shamans
The main feature of Season of Discovery is the new Rune Discovery system, which allows you to discover and attach special abilities to your gear slots after finding them across the world. We list all of Shaman's runes and where they can be located in the guide below.
