Fire Mage PvP Stat Priority, Gear, and Trinkets — The War Within (Season 1)

The stat priority for Fire Mage in PvP is as follows:

1. Intellect;
2. Haste;
3. Versatility;
4. Mastery;
5. Critical Strike;

Intellect is the best stat in all situations. Haste is the best stat to be stacking as a Mage. This reduces the cast time of important abilities like Polymorph. This is followed by Versatility, which will reduce the damage you take while also increasing the damage you deal. With talents like Glass Cannon, stacking some Mastery can allow you to deal significant damage through Mastery: Ignite dot during a match.

In general, Fire Mages want to get trinkets that line up well with Combustion. These trinkets can have a passive or on-use effect. The stat you want to be increasing is Intellect. The reason you want to increase Intellect is because it drastically increases your overall damage output. Note: It is essential that you wear two PvP trinkets. This will give you a Stamina and stat boost that will increase your survivability.

As noted above, acquiring both your 2-set and 4-set bonus is crucial. It is important to note that all tier sets are nerfed by 50% in PvP. Although this nerf is significant, tier sets are still important to acquire to maximize your chances to win. For Fire Mages, this is your tier set:

• 2-set: Phoenix Flames damage increased by 10%. This amount is increased to 25% on its primary target.
• 4-set: After dealing damage, Phoenix Flames has a 10% chance to return to you, refunding 1% of the cooldown on Phoenix Flames and granting you 6% increased spell damage for 10 sec.

4-set is not required for Fire Mages, but getting 2-set is recommended.

Embellishments are bonuses that can be put on crafted gear. These effects can have a drastic impact on the game. You are only allowed to have two Embellishments equipped at the same time. Here are the recommended Embellishments for Fire Mage:

• Ascendance/ Writhing Armor Banding. While in combat, Ascendance grants 89 of a random secondary stat, stacking up to 10 times. Writhing Armor Banding doubles this affect. This combination of Embellishments is the best for Fire Mage. Ascendance can only be crafted on a weapon.
• Duskthread Lining. This Embellishment significantly increases your Versatility when you are above 80% health. This can be used if you do not want to double the affect of Ascendance with Writhing Armor Banding.

• Chest: Enchant Chest - Crystalline Radiance
• Bracers: Enchant Bracer - Chant of Armored Speed
• Legs: Sunset Spellthread
• Boots: Enchant Boots - Scout's March
• Rings: Enchant Ring - Glimmering Versatility
• Weapon: Enchant Weapon - Authority of Radiant Power

Versatile Emerald is the best gem you can use. You also get access to a single Meta Gem. Using Cognitive Bloodstone is ideal for the meta slot.
