Nerub'ar Palace Raid Builds, Tips, and Tricks for Frost Mage
Tips for Ulgrax the Devourer for Frost Mage
Defensive Tips
- Phase 2 starts raid-wide damage. Mirror Image is particularly nice due to the long duration. You may want to use something heavier, like Ice Cold if you are at low HP when Hungering Bellows starts.
Cooldown Usage
- Time Warp on pull.
- On cooldown until the add phase. The actual meaningful component of the fight is the boss, although popping Icy Veins while the adds are up will be the parsing mechanic.
Mechanical Tips
- We have nothing of note for this fight.

Tips for Bloodbound Horror for Frost Mage
Defensive Tips
- Consider using a defensive if you are at low HP when Bloodcurdle happens or if you are about to go down via Gruesome Disgorge.
- In an emergency, you can stack Ice Cold and Greater Invisibility to go down a second time before your debuff has cleared.
Cooldown Usage
- Time Warp on pull.
- Icy Veins on cooldown.
Mechanical Tips
- You can Blink through Spewing Hemorrhage if you find yourself caught on the wrong side.
- Most of the adds can be cleaved off of, either hitting another add or the boss itself. Make sure you are to the side of the target, rather than turning away from the boss fully.
- You can Alter Time Goresplatter to quickly return to the original platforms and negate the impact damage. Hold off returning if possible to negate more of the DoT component.

Tips for Sikran for Frost Mage
Defensive Tips
- As you run to place your Cosmic Simulacrum, you may want to use a defensive if you are at low HP, since you may be running out of Healer range, and if you are not, they are probably busy running as well.
- Prefer Ice Cold for the Decimate impact and subsequent DoT. Make sure you are further than 15 yards from the boss or be prepared to Blink the knockback.
Cooldown Usage
- Time Warp on pull.
- Icy Veins on cooldown.
Mechanical Tips
- We have nothing of note for this fight.

Tips for Rasha'nan for Frost Mage
Defensive Tips
- If you are low on HP as Erosive Spray is going out, consider using a defensive.
- Alter Time can be used to save a strong pull from Web Reave.
- Mass Barrier should also be used for Web Reave.
Cooldown Usage
- Time Warp on pull.
- Icy Veins on cooldown.
Mechanical Tips
- Alter Time when you have Spinneret's Strands, and reactivate to come back in quickly and heal up the damage from the impact.

Tips for Broodtwister Ovi'nax for Frost Mage
Defensive Tips
- Because Volatile Concoction deals increased damage the more HP the tank is missing, so I strongly recommend using a defensive if you are at low HP when it expires.
- Pop something for Ingest Black Blood. Mirror Image is nice due to the duration, although adjust based on how behind your healers are.
Cooldown Usage
- Time Warp on pull.
- Icy Veins on cooldown.
Mechanical Tips
- Energized Barriers will remove Sticky Web.
- A lot of our AoE stops will be valued for the Parasites.

Tips for Nexus-Princess Ky'veza for Frost Mage
Defensive Tips
- Use defensives primarily to cover for mistakes, and if you are at low HP when placing your Images.
- Mirror Image is a great cooldown for the second phase due to the long duration. Consider running Phantasmal Image for the extra damage reduction.
Cooldown Usage
- Time Warp on pull.
- Icy Veins on cooldown.
Mechanical Tips
- Alter Time if you get targeted with Twilight Massacre and make sure the image gets positioned well, then reactivate to return.

Tips for The Silken Court for Frost Mage
Defensive Tips
- Aggressively use defensives. There are so many mechanics going around that it is hard to pinpoint specific for them. Use your best judgment, and keep an eye on boss timers and your health more than you usually would.
- You can survive a failed Ensnare on the boss charge with Ice Cold, although this is a failed mechanic and quite possibly a wipe.
Cooldown Usage
- Time Warp on pull.
- Icy Veins on cooldown.
Mechanical Tips
- After a boss charges and gets Ensnared, it takes double damage for a short time. Make sure you are hitting it.
- You should Alter Time before Web Vortex happens, so that you can just return to position and instantly break free.

Tips for Queen Ansurek for Frost Mage
Defensive Tips
- Mirror Image the intermission, as it is steady damage and long duration.
Cooldown Usage
- Everything on cooldown.
Mechanical Tips
- You can Blink over Venom Nova if you are in a bad position.
- You can also Blink out of Silken Tomb.
- Using our cleave talents, make sure you position yourself nicely to abuse Coldest Snap on the spiderlings that show up at various points in Phase 2 and 3.

General Defensive Usage Notes
Frost Mage has several defensive spells that you should plan to use and rotate throughout mechanics. You should opt to use the smaller cooldown spells often as needed with incoming mechanics and save bigger cooldowns like Ice Cold for large incoming damage.
- Ice Barrier
- Mirror Image
- Greater Invisibility
- Ice Block/ Ice Cold
Additionally, Alter Time can be utilized to heal back all the damage you took in the time since you activated it, although this is a bit of an advanced use.
General Cooldown Usage
Frost Mage has only one cooldown to think about using optimally on the fights in Nerub-ar Palace:
- Icy Veins — Our main, 2-minute cooldown. The spec heavily punishes not having uptime on this, so in almost all scenarios, you are popping it on cooldown.
Most of our other cooldowns are simply just rotational components of the spec. Unless the fight specifically has heavy AoE phases, Frost Mage tends to just ignore almost all fight timers and instead favours cooldown usage over strategics.
