Fury Warrior DPS Easy Mode — The War Within (11.0.5)
On this page, we explain how to easily play Fury Warrior in World of Warcraft — The War Within (11.0.5), using the simplest rotation, talent tree, stat priority, gear setup, etc., without sacrificing performance.
Foreword
This section is intended for players who are new to the game or class, have no intentions of raiding Mythic difficulty, or simply want a more straightforward way to play their specialization without being overwhelmed by the numerous priorities and active abilities that need to be taken into consideration for optimal play.
The Basics of Fury Warrior in The War Within
Fury is straightforward damage dealer, focused on building Rage with auto-attacks and special abilities, in order to spend it on Rampage to trigger Enrage. This creates a constant and fast-paced gameplay loop, enhanced by the specialization's built-in haste buffs. The build showcased here is a simple yet effective play style, good for all types of game content, which is meant to help new players learn the fundamentals of Fury.
If you are completely new to Fury and need more information on the abilities available to you, you can check out our Spell Summary page.

Easy Mode Talents for Fury Warrior
Although built for beginners, this build is capable of engaging in all forms of content, from open-world level, to dungeons and entry-level raids. While there may be better-performing builds for specific pieces of content, they are also more specialized. Beginner Fury Warrior DPS Rotation
The simplified rotation outlined below encompasses both single and multiple target situations using our suggested talents. Although some classes use different abilities between single or multiple targets, Fury Warriors have the advantage of cleaving all their single-target attacks using Improved Whirlwind.
- Always open with Charge whenever possible to generate extra Rage.
- Cast Recklessness on cooldown or whenever burst damage is needed.
- Cast Avatar to automatically trigger Enrage, cast Odyn's Fury, and the Whirlwind buff.
- Cast Whirlwind to apply the Whirlwind buff when facing multiple targets, if not already active.
- Cast Thunderous Roar while enraged.
- Cast Bladestorm during Recklessness, following a fresh Enrage.
- Cast Odyn's Fury on cooldown.
- Cast Crushing Blow, which will automatically replace Raging Blow.
- Cast Bloodbath, which will automatically replace Bloodthirst.
- Cast Rampage to maintain Enrage and activate Reckless Abandon.
- Cast Execute whenever possible.
- Cast Raging Blow as the main rotational filler.
- Cast Bloodthirst to help maintain Enrage.
- Cast Whirlwind when nothing else is available.
While all builds focus on the same principle of converting Rage into damage with Rampage and maintaining Enrage, other talents add extra abilities and capabilities, such as extending the Execute phase. These talents and their rotations are covered in more detail in the advanced sections of the guide.
Defensive Spells for Fury Warrior
Fury Warriors have several defensive abilities which can be used individually or layered for stronger damage mitigation. Although lacking any immunity or cheat death, this can make them very capable at surviving predictable incoming damage.
- Enraged Regeneration is the main defensive cooldown, reducing damage and increasing the amount of healing done by Bloodthirst.
- Spell Reflection is a very powerful tool that not only reduces incoming magic damage, but can deflect or even reflect spells entirely. While not all spells will be reflected to deal damage to the attacker, simply deflecting their application can be significantly reduce damage, if not trivialize many dangerous abilities outright.
- Defensive Stance is one of the most reliable cooldowns in the game, featuring an extremely short 3-second cooldown, though mitigated by the associated reduction in damage. While this makes it somewhat unpopular, smart use of the ability can dramatically increase survivability.
- Warpaint is a very powerful passive damage reduction, which is almost always active in sustained combat, thanks to high uptime on Enrage.
- Impending Victory a powerful on-demand heal on a short cooldown that resets when an enemy is killed. This makes it regularly available and an important reactionary tool that should be used regularly.
- Second Wind, Pain and Gain, and Bloodthirst are extra healing effects which trigger passively and do not need to be micromanaged, but all contribute to increased self-sustain.
- Bitter Immunity provides an on-demand heal and removal of certain afflictions, though its long cooldown makes it lackluster in most group content where a healer will typically cover those needs.
Stat Priority for Fury Warrior
The general stat priority for a Fury Warrior is seen below. This is very much a rough guideline, and is designed for players who do not wish to sim their character. If you are simming your character, please disregard this stat priority completely and follow your sim!
- Strength;
- Haste;
- Mastery;
- Versatility;
- Critical Strike.
Fury has an early emphasis on Haste, quickly transitioning to Mastery and Versatility after a good amount has been acquired. Haste is still useful due to increasing autoattack speed and reducing the time between ability casts, both of which lead to increased Rage generation and Enrage uptime, while Mastery increases damage done during that buff. Critical Strikes deal double damage, while Versatility is a flat increase to damage done and reduces damage taken by half as much. As is the case for most specializations, the specific values of these stats are largely determined by your individual gear, and more information can be found on the Stat Priority page.
While the stat priority for classes is normally the same for both the Easy Mode page and our full guide, subtle differences may still occur. If you want to see a full explanation of the stat priority, as well as the absolute top choices for the priority, head to our full stats page below.
