Nerub'ar Palace Boss Guides for Holy Priest
Nerub'ar Palace Raid Builds, Tips, and Tricks for Holy Priest
Tips for Ulgrax the Devourer for Holy Priest
Defensive Tips
- Desperate Prayer is best used to counter the damage from Venomous Lash.
- Fade can be used to drop threat and prevent the adds from coming after you, avoiding more stacks of Disembowel
Cooldown Usage
- Divine Hymn and Holy Word: Salvation can be used during Hungering Bellows during intermission. Halo should be used on the first Venomous Lash in phase one, and on cooldown after that, lining up with other Venomous Lashes.
Mechanical Tips
- Phantasm does NOT work on this boss as its abilities are roots and not a snare.
- Angelic Feather and Leap of Faith can be used both for the pull during Carnivorous Contest for anyone too close to the boss, or to help with movement during the intermission where players need to quickly bring Chunky Viscera to the boss.

Tips for Bloodbound Horror for Holy Priest
Defensive Tips
- You will want to use Desperate Prayer whenever there is a Crimson Rain, especially if you are going to be in the next soak group as the Gruesome Disgorge will happen immediately afterwards and you will want to be topped up for it.
Cooldown Usage
- Divine Hymn and Holy Word: Salvation should be used for the Goresplatter.
- Halo can be used on the first Crimson Rain at the start of the encounter, and on cooldown afterwards.
- Make sure you are topping off your raid before being hit with the Gruesome Disgorge tank frontal, as it will deal damage and split your group in half as those hit are sent to a different realm.
Mechanical Tips
- Make sure you are positioning yourself properly to easily soak the Gruesome Disgorge that will transport your group to the other phase.
- We can help with crowd controlling the small adds that get summoned with Psychic Scream, or Holy Word: Chastise, if needed.

Tips for Sikran for Holy Priest
Defensive Tips
- Try and use Fade during either Decimate or Shattering Sweep as it is available.
- If you are targeted multiple times in short succession with Phase Blades or Decimate, that is a good time to use both Fade and Desperate Prayer.
- Another good time to use a defensive is when the boss is about to cast Shattering Sweep and there are multiple Simulacrums up, as this will increase the raidwide damage taken.
Cooldown Usage
- Heavy cooldowns such as Divine Hymn and Holy Word: Salvation will be best used during both Decimate and Shattering Sweep.
- Halo can be used during Decimate, which does raidwide damage and leaves a DoT based on the number of Simulacrums destroyed.
- If the Simulacrum mechanic is not done correctly and multiple end up getting destroyed at once, this will deal very heavy damage to the raid and may want Divine Hymn or Holy Word: Salvation to prevent deaths.
Mechanical Tips
- Most of this fight is about movement, you want to make sure you are close to the dropoff spot for the Simulacrums so you do not have to move as much if you are targeted.
- You also want to make sure you are staying away from the boss as you will take extra damage from Shattering Sweep if you are close to Sikran during it.

Tips for Rasha'nan for Holy Priest
Defensive Tips
- You should consider either Fade or Desperate Prayer for the Erosive Spray whenever possible.
- During Acidic Eruption you will be moving and may not be able to stop and heal yourself, making this another good time for defensive abilities if you get low.
Cooldown Usage
- This fight has a lot of small spikes of damage - Divine Hymn and Holy Word: Salvation will go well during the any Erosive Spray, which happen very often during the fight.
- The Infested Spawn adds can also do a large amount of damage in a very short time frame if they are not properly crowd controlled, which you should be prepared for.
- Halo can be used on the first Erosive Spray early in the fight, and on cooldown after that, lining up with additional sprays or during the movement phases.
Mechanical Tips
- We can assist with crowd controlling the Infested Spawn with Psychic Scream.
- Holy Priest is not well equipped to deal with the long movement phases during this encounter - make use of Angelic Feather and Body and Soul to reduce your time spent running. If possible, you can organise an Evoker rescue you on each run, and then help someone else yourself with Leap of Faith.

Tips for Broodtwister Ovi'nax for Holy Priest
Defensive Tips
- A lot of the damage in this fight can be mitigated by properly crowd controlling adds and keeping your tank topped off.
- Save Desperate Prayer in case it looks like the Voracious Worm will finish its cast of Poison Burst, or use it when the Volatile Concoction is going to expire on the tank.
Cooldown Usage
- Similar to the above defensive tips, raid damage can vary drastically depending on how other mechanics are handled.
- There is planned raid-wide damage when Broodtwister uses Ingest Black Blood, which will be a good time for Divine Hymn or Holy Word: Salvation.
- Halo can be used early and on cooldown, as the consistent absorbs and raid-wide damage ensures there will always be something to heal.
Mechanical Tips
- Assisting with crowd control can be very helpful here if the team needs it, with either Psychic Scream or Holy Word: Chastise.
- Heroic - Sticky Web will apply a slow to players which can be dispelled. Upon dispel, a root will be applied to players nearby the target, so make sure they run away before you dispel them.
- You can personally use Phantasm to remove your own Sticky Web if you get it, saving a dispel for another player.

Tips for Nexus-Princess Ky'veza for Holy Priest
Note that it is early days and that this section will be far more fleshed out as the Season progresses and cool tricks and tips are found.
Defensive Tips
- Fade or Desperate Prayer can be used during any Nether Rift if you are not full health, or when afflicted with Queensbane.
Cooldown Usage
- Divine Hymn or Holy Word: Salvation can be used for the Nether Rifts. Note that these rifts will suck you in, killing you if you fall into them, which can make using Divine Hymn tricky if the Nether Portals are placed poorly. Be mindful of your positioning to try and avoid losing Divine Hymn ticks without dying.
- Starless Night is also a good time to use your cooldowns, particularly Holy Word: Salvation due to the movement required around this time.
- Use Halo on the first Nether Rift and then on cooldown afterwards.
Mechanical Tips
- Unless you have Dark Viscera you should try to stay in the middle as much as your raid's strategy allows, so as to minimize the amount of movement needed for the fight. Leap of Faith can be used on players that are about to get sucked into a Nether Rift.

Tips for The Silken Court for Holy Priest
Note that it is early days and that this section will be far more fleshed out as the Season progresses and cool tricks and tips are found.
Defensive Tips
- Use Fade or Desperate Prayer for Reckless Charge, or when inflicted with the Stinging Swarm debuff.
Cooldown Usage
- Raid-wide damage will happen after Reckless Charge, and during Venomous Rain. Both are good times for Divine Hymn or Holy Word: Salvation. Make sure you are positioned properly for the charge before you start your Divine Hymn cast so you do not get caught up in it.
- Stinging Swarm can also do decent damage if your strategy involves dispelling all 3 debuffs at once.
Mechanical Tips
- In phase 2 a dispel mechanic will occur, Stinging Swarm.
- When this debuff is dispelled it moves to the closest player or to the boss Takazj.
- The goal is to get all 3 of the debuffs onto the boss.
- Wait for the player you are going to dispel to stand next to Takazj before dispelling.
- You may also Mass Dispel all 3 targets at once on top of the boss if that is the chosen strategy for your guild.

Tips for Queen Ansurek for Holy Priest
Note that it is early days and that this section will be far more fleshed out as the Season progresses and cool tricks and tips are found.
Defensive Tips
- Fade can be used early and often for most damage events, such as Frothy Toxin, Venom Nova or Wrest.
- Desperate Prayer is recommended for Frothy Toxin which can be fatal when overlapped with other damage like Gloom Touch dispels during intermission.
Cooldown Usage
- In Phase 1, Divine Hymn and Holy Word: Salvation can be used for Frothy Toxin, which is the most lethal part of the phase. This damage happens just after jumping over the Venom Nova.
- Holy Word: Salvation is also a good choice during the first intermission where Queen Ansurek uses Wrest to pull players towards her and dealing damage in the process. Avoid trying to use Divine Hymn during these periods of critical movement.
- If Holy Word: Salvation is used early on in the fight, it will be availably again in Phase 3 to help deal with the consistent raid-wide damage from Gorge, Royal Condemnation or Queen's Summons.
- Halo can be used on the first Acid Explosion that occurs moments into the encounter, and then on cooldown after that.
Mechanical Tips
- Phase 1 can have a lot of movement between dodging lines and jumping over the Venom Nova then repositioning afterwards. Positioning yourself so that you're near the jump point before Venom Nova comes out saves spending too much time running rather than casting. You can also help slower raid members with Leap of Faith to help them position prior to the nova going off.
- During intermission a debuff called Gloom Touch targets raid members and will deal raid-wide damage when it is dispelled. This debuff comes out in sets of two, one of which should be dispelled quickly, so the raid can be healed up before the second one expires. The Gloom Touch damage can overlap with Wrest if your group is not careful with their dispel timings, which can be deadly. Keep the timer for Wrest in mind prior to dispelling to avoid this overlap, while still dispelling the first debuff as early as possible to allow time for the group to be topped up before the second one expires.

General Defensive Usage Notes
Holy Priest has several defensive spells that you should plan to use and rotate throughout mechanics. You should opt to use the smaller cooldown spells often as needed with incoming mechanics and save bigger cooldowns like Desperate Prayer for large incoming damage.
- Desperate Prayer.
- Fade (with Translucent Image talented).
- Flash Heal on yourself (with Protective Light talented).
- Guardian Spirit (if not needed for a specific ally).
General Cooldown Usage
Holy Priest has a few cooldowns to think about using optimally on the fights in Nerub-ar Palace:
- Divine Hymn — Our main, 3-minute raid cooldown.
- Holy Word: Salvation — Our secondary strong raid cooldown.
If you find your cooldowns are not assigned by your raid leader, you should look to use these as often as they will do healing without significant overheal. This is particularly important for Holy Word: Salvation as much of your gameplay feeds into reducing the cooldown of Holy Word: Salvation, and this added bonus is lost if it is not being used.
Your desired mana potion should be used as soon as the additional mana won't be wasted. This can often be quite early on during an encounter and will help set you up to have plenty of mana for the later portions of the fight.
