Holy Priest PvP Talents and Builds — The War Within (11.0.5)
Choosing the right PvP and PvE talents is a prerequisite to proper performance in PvP. This guide goes through the various talent choices available to you as a Holy Priest and gives you the best combinations you can take.

Regular Talents for Holy Priests
We will discuss the general build for Holy Priests going into The War Within. Keep in mind that adapting your build to the situation is essential. This greatly depends on what composition you are playing and what you are facing.
This build is centered around efficient, casted heals with excellent output while still having the needed crowd control to set up kills on the enemy team. As long as you can cast freely, this build's single-target healing output is unmatched.
Priest Tree
Mandatory Talents
Dispel Magic, Mass Dispel, Leap of Faith, Shadow Word: Death and Power Infusion are part of your defensive and offensive utility and need to be picked.
Power Word: Life is a powerful healing spell with a short cooldown. It is instrumental in keeping your team alive.
Surge of Light is a powerful healing talent as it can proc instant Flash Heal free of cost. It helps with sustained healing.
Phantasm is a spell Priests have needed for a long time. It removes snares upon using Fade, giving Priests much-needed mobility.
Psychic Voice reduces the cooldown of your Psychic Scream by 15s. It is crucial as Psychic Scream is your best crowd control ability.
Important Talents
Mind Control is a solid pick as it gives you a power crowd control option that you can use both offensively and defensively.
Twist of Fate is a great talent as it allows you to recover when the enemy team has brought someone in your team low on health. It also amplifies the damage to the target when it is low on health.
Void Tendrils allows you to mass root enemies. It is a good ability as it gives you more crowd control options, and makes it easier to survive when being trained by melee DPS.
Holy Priest Tree
Mandatory Talents
Guardian Spirit is your main defensive external cooldown, and its value gets increased by Guardian Angel, which lowers its cooldown to 60 seconds in case the Guardian Spirit did not get proceed.
Symbol of Hope shortens a defensive Cooldown by 60 seconds for all party members. This affects your Desperate Prayer. On top of that, you restore a certain amount of mana for all party members.
Holy Word: Chastise gives you instant Crowd Control. This allows you to set up your Crowd Control chain on an enemy by using Holy Word: Chastise into Psychic Scream.
Apotheosis makes the cooldown reductions to your Holy Words 300% and makes their Mana cost-free. This will be one of your primary burst healing cooldowns.
Miracle Worker greatly increases your healing throughput by having an additional charge of Holy Word: Sanctify and Holy Word: Serenity. Holy Word: Serenity is by far your best single target instant healing cooldown.
Important Talents
Enlightenment increases your mana regeneration by 10%. This is extremely valuable since it allows you to play longer games without going out of mana too fast.
Harmonious Apparatus is a great way to reduce the cooldowns of important Holy Words by using their respective spells.
Lightwell is a good instant healing cooldown that heals your party members within 20 yards if they fall below 50% health. The Lightwell lasts for 2 minutes or when it healed for 15 times.
Censure converts your Holy Word: Chastise into a Stun. A helpful talent in case your team is lacking stuns for the enemy.
Answered Prayers gives you the effect of Apotheosis for 8 seconds after your Prayer of Mending has bounced a total of 50 times. You want to keep track of your stacks of Answered Prayers to estimate when it will proc to prepare your healing and not to waste the talent Apotheosis itself.
Resonant Words increases the healing of Heal or Flash Heal after using a Holy Word. This talent increases your single target output a lot.
Divine Hymn is a channeled healing cooldown which heals your party within 40 yards over 8 seconds. Each heal applies a stacking healing buff on party members.
PvP Talents for Holy Priests
You can choose 3 of the following PvP talents; each has uses, but some are better for certain strategies than others. The top three choices are the most useful but can be replaced with other PvP talents depending on your team's goal.
Mandatory PvP Talents
Spirit of the Redeemer puts you into a spirit form, which allows you to free-cast heals on your team for 8 seconds. You cannot heal yourself while in spirit form; if you die, you will not enter spirit form.
Seraphic Crescendo reduces the cooldown of Divine Hymn by 60 seconds, causes it to channel 50% faster, and its healing bonus now lasts longer.
Situational PvP Talents
Phase Shift makes you immune against attacks and spells for 1 second. This is great for immuning crowd control and moving around the map.
Purification gives Purify a maximum of two charges and grants your target an small absorb shield. It is crucial against teams with spammable, dispellable crowd control like Polymorph or Fear as you will be able to dispel your teammates multiple times, increasing their uptime and preventing the enemy team from controlling the pace of the game.
Divine Ascension is a great talent if you face melees and know that you are most likely to be trained. It lets you fly into the air to free-cast spells with an increased spell range.
