Logging Trade Skill Guide for New World

Logging is a fundamental trade skill in New World: Aeternum, offering players the ability to gather a range of essential wood resources by cutting down unique trees scattered throughout Aeternum.

As you level up your logging skill, you will be able to unlock different types of wood by being able to cut down rarer tree, ranging from the common greenwood all the way up to the sought-after runewood. Logging not only supports other important tradeskills, like Engineering and Furnishing, but also supports the creation of critical items like tools, weapons, armor, and more.

To begin your logging adventures, simply craft a Flint Logging Axe at any campfire or workshop using the easy-to-find resources Flint and Greenwood. By using the wood you gather with your logging axe to craft items, you'll be able to directly support your Woodworking trade skill, allowing you to get the most value out of all the woord resource you gather.

The logging tradeskill scales directly with Constitution, so we highly recommended that you focus on obtaining as much Constitution as possible on both gear and your attribute selection. The end-goal is to try to hit 350 Constitution to maxmimize the amount of logging benefits from your attribute bonuses.

Below is a list of the perks granted from Constitution that benefit logging.

• 25 Constitution: +10% logging speed
• 50 Constitution: -10% reduction on durability loss for tools
• 100 Constitution: +50 encumbrance
• 150 Constitution: -10% decreased weight of logging items
• 200 Constitution: +20% logging speed
• 250 Constitution: +10% yield increased from logging
• 300 Constitution: 25% chance to chop down a tree in a single swing
• 350 Constitution: +10$ chance at finding rare items while logging

Please note: The 300-Constitution perk currently only applies on the first swing on the tree, you can not jump after the first swing to proc this - it's the first swing that counts!

Luck greatly increases your chance at gathering rare materials from logging. Stacking as much luck as possible on all of your gear, tools, and food buffs is the key to finding these legendary rare materials.

You are able to have a total of three houses currently in New World: Aeternum, and in each of those houses you can place up to five trophies. Placing a logging trophy in your house increases your logging luck globally, and you may place a logging trophy in each of your three houses, which will stack the luck up even further. You are also able to permanently increase the power of these trophies by acquiring the Lumberjack's Token and Pure Resin materials. Trophies can be made by the Furnishing profession.

1. Minor Trophy = +500 luck
2. Basic Trophy = +1,000 luck
3. Major Trophy = +1,500 luck

The best perks for your logging axe can change depending on what you need. For example, as you are leveling up your logging skill, you may want the Lumberjack's Discipline perk, which grants increased logging experience. Plus, even when you max out at 250 logging, you will still be able to utilize the experience buff towards gaining additional apptitude levels for additional rewards (such as the Package of Specialized Logging Materials. We recommend using the following perks on your logging axe.

There are certain pieces of gear that could greatly impact your overall success in logging. These items can greatly increase your chance at finding rare items while logging, making every tree you cut down holding higher potential of finding something valuable. If you truly want to maximize your logging experience, you may want to explore investing in a bag that utilizes specific logging perks, including the Lumberjack's Burden perk, which reduces the weight of your wood, timber,and logging axes by 20%. The Extra Pockets perk is also fantastic for all situations, as it increases your inventory's weight limits.

In addition to the logging yield buff at 250 Constitution, you can also increase the overall quantity of resources gathered from each tree by drinking the Powerful Proficiency Boost, made by the Arcana profession, which can increase your yield by 15% for 30 minutes. You can also get additional yield on your crafted logging axe with the "Logging Yield" perk mentioned above.

Leveling logging in New World: Aeternum is a fairly taske: the higher level required to chop the tree, the more experience you will gain. However, the difference in experience is not that learge until the later levels (Wyrdwood, Ironwood, and Runewood), and the speed at which you can gain experience is largely dictated by how fast you are capable of logging those trees.

The 300-Constitution perk that allows you to chop a tree in a single swing makes those last logging levels go extremely fast, as logging Ironwood and Runewood in one swing will net you massive experience.

Trees are found everywhere throughout Aeternum, so for the lower levels just chop where you feel comfortable, generally close to a town so you can run back quickly and refine that wood immediately (or save it in your storage for later).

As for the higher-end trees,Ironwood and Runewood is primarily found in higher level zones, but there are some unique spawns in lower-level areas too if you're lucky enough to find them. For full visibility on where the most effective logging routes are, visit this map.
