Mistweaver Monk Battleground Blitz Guide — The War Within (11.0.5)
This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about playing Mistweaver Monk in Battleground Blitz, including specific playstyle tips, talent builds, and much more.
Mistweaver Monk in Battleground Blitz
Playstyle as Mistweaver Monk
In Battleground Blitz, Mistweaver is known as the move versatile healer. There will be maps where you focus on healing, but you will flag carry in others. If you are not healing or flag-carrying, you are quickly moving from node to node if your teammates need help. With spells like Revival and Life Cocoon, you have a few ways to help your team recover when you start to fall behind in healing.
Battleground Blitz Talent Choices for Mistweaver Monk
Here is the talent build you will be using to maximize your healing output:
Here is the talent build you will be using if you are flag-carrying on Warsong Gulch or Twin Peaks:
Recommended Battleground Blitz PvP Talents for Mistweaver Monk
- Zen Focus Tea
- Peaceweaver
- Eminence
There are 3 PvP talent slots and 4 talents you need to choose between. Because there are so many interrupts in Battlegrounds, Zen Focus Tea is a mandatory talent to choose. Peaceweaver reduces the cooldown of Revival by 50% and makes everyone healed immune to magic effects for 2 seconds. This talent is also a mandatory talent. Use Eminence if you are playing against a team with multiple stuns that can hit you.
Crowd Control as Mistweaver Monk
In Battleground Blitz, without the Arena Dampening effect, healers, when left alone, are able to sustain against many players with relative ease. The way to counter the high throughput of healers in Battleground Blitz is with the effective use of crowd control.
Mistweaver has many tools in its kit to aid with this:
- Leg Sweep
- Paralysis
Note: Be careful with Paralysis! This will dispel all DoTs on the target, and you could be removing quite a bit of damage if you have an Affliction Warlock or Shadow Priest on your team.
Mistweaver Defensives
- Leg Sweep should be used for crowd control on the enemy healer most of the time. If you are being focused and cannot get away or receive help from your teammates, use Leg Sweep to stun enemies near you.
- Transcendence can be used to teleport behind pillars. Use this when you push in for a Leg Sweep and Transcendence: Transfer back before you get swapped to. If an enemy is casting crowd control on you, you can teleport before their cast finishes to avoid being crowd-controlled.
- Fortifying Brew is a damage reduction spell that also increases your health. This works well with Healing Elixir, and, if you play with a Warlock, Healthstones. Use this when Transcendence is on cooldown, and you cannot get away from the enemy team.
- Paralysis can be used when you have been interrupted. If the enemy team is trying to kill one of your teammates and you get interrupted, use Paralysis on one of the enemy DPS to prevent their damage. You can also use Paralysis to interrupt casts, including to avoid incoming crowd control.
Mistweaver Flag Carrying
As noted above, Mistweavers are surprisingly great flag carriers. What makes them so good is how fast they can quickly cross the map with tools from Invoke Chi-Ji, the Red Crane, Chi Torpedo, and Lighter Than Air. These 4 talents allow you to quickly cross the map without being slowed. Once you get to your base, set up a Transcendence on the roof and jump down so you can use Transcendence: Transfer when enemies get close to you. Here is the rotation you use once you want to run past the enemy team:
- Use Invoke Chi-Ji, the Red Crane.
- Use Thunder Focus Tea.
- Use Chi Torpedo.
- Hit your spacebar twice for Lighter Than Air.
- Use Chi Torpedo.
- Hit your spacebar twice for Lighter Than Air.
Mistweaver Monk Stat Priority and Gear

The Role of Mistweaver Monk in Battlegrounds
Capture the Flag (Warsong Gulch, Twin Peaks)
If you get either Warsong Gulch or Twin Peaks as a map, you will likely be flag-carrying. If there is a Balance Druid on your team, they will probably flag carry. At the start of these maps, you should do the following:
- Identify which player will be carrying the flag. This can be either you or a Balance Druid.
- Depending on your role, switch your talents.
- Coordinate with the other healer whether they will be healing offense or defense. Offense will be trying to kill the enemy flag carrier and defense healer will be healing your team's flag carrier.
Resource Race (Arathi Basin, Battle for Gilneas, Deepwind Gorge)
On resource race maps, your primary goal is to keep your team alive at whichever base is decided to be fought over. There is not much room for you to make plays or defend bases by yourself. The best healers will be able to heal through the team fight and ensure the team fight is won by their team. Trade Revival when your team gets low, use Life Cocoon on a teammate that drops low, and dispel crowd control with Detox.
Hybrid (Eye of the Storm)
Similar to resource race maps, your goal is to keep your team alive in the big team fights. The goal on this map, unlike normal Rated Battlegrounds, is to team fight at one node and try to cap both bases. This results in long 7v7 team fights, and the winner will more than likely pull ahead quickly. Trade Revival when your team gets low, use Life Cocoon on a teammate that drops low, and dispel crowd control with Detox. Use Leg Sweep on multiple enemies to try to land a kill.
Note: Capping the flag will make the inactive bases active, and both teams will have to recap the nodes. Use this tactic if your team is falling behind on points or lost the team fight.
King of the Hill (Temple of Kotmogu)
Ranged DPS specializations will always be the best orb carriers on Temple of Kotmogu, so do not grab the flag unless it is a dire situation and you have to. The most important part about this map is to win the initial team fight and quickly gain momentum by grabbing 3 orbs and standing in the middle of the map. When the enemy team starts to resurrect, leave middle and kite around the center. Here are some tips for this map:
- Players take more damage the longer they hold the orb. This means that, eventually, the Orb carriers will die. Ideally, your team will only hold 2-3 orbs at a time so that you do not easily wipe when you have high stacks.
- Make sure you die on the correct side of the map! You and your team will resurrect depending on where you died. If you die on purple side, you will resurrect on blue side and vise versa. Ensuring you and your team resurrect together is crucial, this will allow you to regroup faster and quickly wipe the enemy team that will be weak.
- There are leaves at every orb; if you are low on Mana, make sure you grab one!
