Priest Class Overview
Priests lead the many faiths spread throughout the disparate lands of the world of Azeroth. In Kalimdor, Night Elf Priestesses revere the moon goddess Elune, while Dwarven priests in Khaz Modan deliver the message of the Light to their people. In the ruins of Lordaeron, the undead priests of the Forsaken, their faith twisted and tainted by their tortured existences, spread a dark interpretation of the Holy Light. Regardless of their faith, however, all Priests share in their ability to manipulate the minds of those who turn to them for spiritual guidance.
Priest in Season of Discovery
Find our new guides for Priest in WoW Classic Season of Discovery below! The new game mode will have players find and utilize Runes that can then be engraved onto their gear to provide them special bonuses that augment already existing abilities or allow the class to use entirely new spells.
Priest can function as both a DPS and a Healer, and while that isn't changing, the Season of Discovery will make new builds possible, and increase the power of already existing builds.
Introduction to Priest in Vanilla World of Warcraft
Practitioners of faith, controlling aspects from both Light and the Void, the Priest is a caster-based Healing or DPS class in World of Warcraft. Priest has access to three different Specializations, two of which are meant for healing (Discipline and Holy) and the third being dedicated to DPS (Shadow). Regardless of Specialization or playstyle, all Priests use Mana as a resource.
- Discipline — This specialization uses a balance of Holy and Shadow elements to shield allies from damage and increase their magical abilities.
- Holy — This specialization uses the power of the Light to heal and protect allies.
- Shadow — The antithesis of Holy, this specialization uses abilities to wreak havoc on the minds of enemies and deal DoT-based damage to them.
Due to the differences between Classic and modern World of Warcraft, players won't spec completely into a specific Specialization. For Priest, Holy and Discipline will have specific Talents taken depending on how you wish to play, while Shadow will almost entirely avoid the Healing Talents. For a more in depth look at what this looks like, head over to our detailed Priest Guides linked below.
