Leatherworking Guide for The War Within

Leatherworking is still responsible for the creation of Leather and Mail armor, including Nerubian gear with special kiss/curse procs, such as Adrenal Surge Clasp, embellishment optional reagents, such as Writhing Armor Banding, reagents, such as Storm-Touched Weapon Wrap, and new profession tools and accessories, such as Nerubian Alchemist's Hat.

It can also create Bloodlust alternative Thunderous Drums and leg enchants for Agility and Strength users, such as Stormbound Armor Kit.

Alliance players can be Kul'Tiran for +2 skill points, but that is as far as Leatherworking racial bonuses go.

Leatherworking can make great use of all four stats, but you might want to focus on specific stats with different Leatherworking specializations. We go into detail with Leatherworking stats and the gear you can use to boost them in the specialized guide below:

Increasing your skill is done by crafting items that grant skill points as usual, and in order to be efficient, we recommend trying to get as many first-craft bonuses while leveling as possible, which also grant experience if you are not at maximum level.

You will be able to track all weekly and one-time sources of profession knowledge with Myu's Knowledge Points Tracker, a very helpful Weak Aura!

There are multiple treasures around Khaz Algar that you can loot for up to 24 extra knowledge. You can find them all easily in-game with the aforementioned Weak Aura or the Rarescanner addon, which will put up small treasure icons with a hammer underneath at their map location, as exemplified below.

The best specialization for you depends on what your goals are, but no matter what specialization you choose, you will always want to complement it with the high general stat boosts of Learned Leatherworker and its sub-trees.

Leather gear crafters will want to go into Luxurious Leathers to learn all the generic epic patterns, such as Rune-Branded Armbands and maximize their skill with them, while Mail gear crafters will go into Concrete Chitin instead, for recipes such as Glyph-Etched Vambraces and extra skill when doing them.

Finally, Flawless Fortes boosts skill and stats with the rest of your crafts: the left and bottom parts are dedicated to Arathi, Nerubian and Beast crafts, while the right side covers leg enchants and profession items.

Leatherworking allows you to convert cheap leathers and scales into expensive gear, leg enchants, and other crafts. High-end gear pieces are likely to fetch a good price in the Crafting Orders system, provided you can find customers willing to give good commission fees.

Until you fully max out skill, gear, and knowledge for your desired crafts, you will be reliant on Concentration to get maximum ranks out, which can quickly be exhausted every day, so make sure to create some alts to increase your production cap while it is still very profitable to do so! Even later on those can still be useful as they will be able to create maximum rank items more cheaply than the guaranteed method, which requires full Rank 3 reagents.
