Rosaria Guide and Best Builds for Genshin Impact
Rosaria is a 4-star Cryo Polearm character who is mostly known for her supportive buffs and Cryo application. She buffs your party with CRIT rate based on her own CRIT rate and can dash towards enemies with her skill. This dash can be used to dodge skills from most basic enemies. She has low on-field field time, so she fits in well with most teams where Cryo can be a benefit.
Rosaria Introduction
Rosaria is a 5-star Cryo Polearm Character in Genshin Impact who
can be built as a Main DPS through Reverse Melt or
built as an Off-Field DPS/Support with offensive buffs and Cryo application. She
is particularly strong with reverse melts and supporting other Cryo characters.
This guide will focus on Rosaria's best
weapons, builds, artifacts, teambuilding and more!
Strengths and Weaknesses
- Provides a CRIT Rate buff to your party.
- Low skill cooldown with decent particle generation.
- Works great both on field and off field.
- Competes with other Cryo characters for the same roles.
- CRIT buff is based off Rosaria's CRIT Rate, meaning it does very little when undergeared.
- Highly punished for fights where targets run out of her burst AoE, as it is a circle on the ground.
Rosaria's Reverse Melt Build
Rosaria generally has 2 builds, one surrounding Reverse Melt and one where she Supports. Reverse melt is explained here, while Support is explained in the build following this.

Rosaria's choice of weapons when used for Reverse Melt is relatively easy. Staff of the Scarlet Sands is ahead of the 3 options, however the 3 other options are generally really strong. Deathmatch is a Battle Pass weapon, making it very easy to obtain. Generally speaking Staff of the Scarlet sands is about 10% ahead of the other options when using Gilded Dreams.
For Artifacts, Gilded Dreams and Lavawalker are really close. However, Lavawalker is a bit worse to farm unless you also need to farm Crimson Witch of Flames. Emblem of Severed Fate can also be used and is also an artifact set that you most likely will have to farm for another character, however it's potency depends on how much Energy Recharge you have. The more you get, the stronger this set is.
When it comes to Rosaria's stat priorities, we are going to focus more on CRIT Rate than CRIT DMG. This is due to how her 4th Ascension Perk makes her able to share part of her own CRIT Rate to the rest of the Party. Aim for around 85% CRIT Rate if you can. You can read more about this under Combos and How to Play Rosaria.
Rosaria's Support Build
Rosaria's Support build is very simple, because you want to be able to apply her CRIT Rate buff as much as possible. We dont necessarily focus damage on her, although more damage is never bad, it is just not what is focused.

Due to how Support roles work, Rosaria's weapon selection is mainly focuses around their effects and their stats, as actual weapon performance will matter less. Deathmatch has been marked as her best weapon here, and while Staff of the Scarlet Sands is technically better as it provides more CRIT Rate passively, Deathmatch is significantly easier to obtain versus a 5 star limited weapon while Staff of the Scarlet Sands can also be better used on other characters. That being said, Favonius Lance is also a strong contender if your team needs the particles, so your weapon of choice depends on what you have available and what your team needs.
For Artifacts, it is straight forward. As a support we use Noblesse Oblige in the vast majority of cases. Although Instructor is used if you use Rosaria to support Hu Tao. If you want her to be more offensive in a Freeze team, then Blizzard Strayer is the set of choice.
Just like with Reverse Melt, we are going to focus more on CRIT Rate than CRIT DMG. From there you mostly want to focus on Energy Recharge, as we want to Burst as often as possible. You can read more about why Rosaria wants to deviate from the normal ratio between CRIT Rate and DMG under Combos and How to Play Rosaria
Combos and How to Play Rosaria
Rosaria is straightforward. You want to keep her Elemental Burst on the field as much as possible and you want to cast her Elemental Skill as often as possible to generate energy particles. Ravaging Confession has a 6s CD and also functions as a gap closer. Rites of Termination lasts for 8s ,12s with Land Without Promise (C2), with a 15s CD. Regina Probationum increases her CRIT Rate by 12% for 5s, but only after you hit an enemy from behind, so make sure to use it at the right position, when fighting larger targets (Ruin Guards etc.), since it won't dash you behind them.
Shadow Samaritan gives the rest of your party (Rosaria excluded!) 15% of Rosaria's CRIT Rate. This means you will not be getting 15% unless Rosaria has 100% CRIT rate. This means you should focus more on CRIT Rate than CRIT DMG due to this. The general consensus is to have a 1:2 ratio from Rate to DMG, usually 74%/149% CRIT Rate/DMG. The damage loss when deviating from this is not massive. For Rosaria, this also means that you can sub out some CRIT DMG for more CRIT Rate. This lowers Rosaria's personal damage, but increases the damage your team does overall. This does not mean you want to aim for 100% CRIT Rate, but 85% is about where the CRIT Rate contribution starts to drop off
Rosaria's Best Team Comps
Rosaria's main team compositions are a bit mixed, as she is both able to be a Cryo Driver for Reverse Melt, Cryo Off-field DPS and Physical DPS Support. Examples of each are provided but the list is not exhaustive. Genshin can be pretty flexible, and Rosaria can fit in well with many teams due to her CRIT buff as long as her Cryo Application will not mess up the rest of the teams reactions.
Reverse Melt Comps
Rosaria | Pyro DPS | Support | Flex |
---|---|---|---|
Rosaria | Xiangling | Bennett |
Melt/Reverse Melt is a team comp involving applying Pyro to Cryo and vice versa. There are many ways to do it, but for Rosaria, it works as her Burst will pulse every 2 seconds. So you just have to apply Pyro in-between to trigger Reverse Melt. This is achieved through Xiangling, with Bennett supporting Xiangling with Energy and the entire party with ATK. The last slot can be a Cryo or an Anemo character.
Sunfire Reverse Melt
Rosaria | Anemo Driver | Pyro Driver | Cryo Flex |
---|---|---|---|
Rosaria | Jean | Bennett |
This Reverse Melt team uses the interaction between Bennett and Jean's Bursts. Bennett will cleanse your active character by applying Pyro, while Jean's will Swirl the Pyro on you to deal Pyro DMG around you. This will also happen the other way around, constantly ticking Pyro DMG around you. You then apply Cryo with Rosaria and your 2nd Cryo to Melt/Reverse Melt. This does mean that both Jean and Bennett are essential for this team comp.
Hu Tao Vapemelt
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Sub DPS | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Hu Tao | Xingqiu | Rosaria |
This team uses Hu Tao to both Vaporize and Melt@, by applying Hydro and then Pyro or Cryo and then Pyro. This means we want to trigger Hydro or Cryo in-between triggering Pyro with Hu Tao. The 3rd slot is either a 2nd Cryo to trigger Cryo Resonance or Zhongli for his shield.
Rosaria's Ascensions, Talents and Constellations
Rosaria Ascension Passives and Materials
Unlock | Ascension Passive | Explanation |
---|---|---|
With Character | Night Walk | At night (18:00 – 6:00), your party members gain the Swift Stride effect: Movement SPD increased by 10%. Does not take effect in Domains, Trounce Domains, or Spiral Abyss. Swift Stride does not stack. |
1st Ascension | Regina Probationum | When Rosaria strikes an opponent from behind using Ravaging Confession, Rosaria's CRIT Rate increases by 12% for 5s. |
4th Ascension | Shadow Samaritan | Casting Rites of Termination increases CRIT Rate of all nearby party members (except Rosaria herself) by 15% of Rosaria's CRIT Rate for 10s. CRIT Rate Bonus gained this way cannot exceed 15%. |
Rosaria requires a range of materials to ascend to the 6th ascension. Starting from the second ascension she gains additional ATK % as her bonus stat giving a total of 24% increased ATK at the final ascension. The total cost to upgrade all ascensions is:
Source | Quantity |
---|---|
Mora | 420,000 Mora |
Boss Material | 46x Hoarfrost Core |
Ascension Material | |
Local Specialty | 168x Valberry |
Enhancement Material |
|
Rosaria's Talents
Listed below is each talent and a brief explanation of how they work.
Type | Talent Name | Brief Explanation |
---|---|---|
Normal | Normal Attack: Spear of the Church | Standard Normal Attack being a combo with 5 consecutive hits. Her Charged Attack is a lunge forward. |
Elemental Skill | Ravaging Confession | Rosaria swiftly shifts her position to appear behind her opponent, then stabs and slashes them with her polearm, dealing Cryo DMG. This ability cannot be used to travel behind larger opponents. |
Elemental Burst | Rites of Termination | Rosaria swings her weapon, slashing nearby opponents and then summons an Ice Lance that strikes the ground in front of her, both dealing Cryo DMG. The Ice Lance stays in place for 8s, pulsing Cryo DMG to surrounding opponents every 2s. |
To upgrade a single talent to level 10, it costs:
Source | Quantity |
---|---|
Mora | 1,625,500 Mora |
Special Material | 1x Crown of Insight |
Boss Material | 6x Shadow of the Warrior |
|
|
Enhancement Material |
|
Rosaria's Constellations
Rosaria's constellations are pretty straight forward. C2 is her biggest DMG increase, as the pulsing damage makes up 2/3rds of the damage of her burst. Some of the constellations ranges from nice to have to not relevant at all, with C6 being the most prominent, as it allows her to support Physical DMG.
Constellation | Name | Explanation |
---|---|---|
1 | Unholy Revelation | When Rosaria deals a CRIT Hit, her ATK SPD increases by 10% and her Normal Attack DMG increases by 10% for 4s. |
2 | Land Without Promise | The duration of the Ice Lance created by Rites of Termination is increased by 4s. |
3 | The Wages of Sin |
|
4 | Painful Grace | Ravaging Confession's CRIT Hits regenerate 5 Energy for Rosaria. Can only be triggered once each time Ravaging Confession is cast. |
5 | Last Rites |
|
6 | Divine Retribution | Rites of Termination's attack decreases opponents' Physical RES by 20% for 10s. |
