The Waking Shores Dragonriding Races (10.0.2)

The Waking Shores has 8 races; below we will detail some tips and tricks for each race along with a video showing each race completed on both Normal and Advanced difficulties with a gold timer.

• You can safely use Surge Forward for the entire race. There is one Wind Boost not on the main path in the River section, fly into this to save some Vigor.
• Advanced Only: You will need to be mindful of Scalechargers as they can slow you if you are not currently using Surge Forward.
• Advanced Only: Make sure to pick up the Vigor node which is slightly off the straight path in the River section as you will need all the Vigor you can get.
• Advanced Only:Place your Bronze Timelock down before you start the race to save a few seconds on the long descent to the finish checkpoint.
• Optional - Advanced Only: Windborne Velocidrake has a slightly smaller hitbox than the other drakes making passing through tower at the end of the race easier.

• Be mindful of your Vigor usage on this race as there are periods where you are ascending and will need to gain height and momentum with your abilities.
• Advanced Only: You do not need to be mindful of your Vigor usage on Advanced as there are plenty of Vigor nodes!
• Advanced Only: Be mindful of the trees as you fly between them as hitting them will kill all of your momentum.

• Pay close attention to when sharp turns are approaching and avoid using Surge Forward as you approach them as the added momentum can make the turn harder.
• Try to have at least 1 Vigor saved for the 2nd half of the race as you will be ascending back to the finish line and you should aim to use them after the Wind Boosts end.
• Advanced Only: You do not need to be too mindful of your Vigor usage on Advanced as there are plenty of Vigor nodes!
• Advanced Only: There are a few moments where you cannot see the next checkpoint due to trees being in the way. Trust the arrow.

• The very first ring of the race is underneath you. Point your camera down to see it.
• Be a little bit conservative with your Vigor usage at the start of the race as there are no Wind Boosts.
• Watch out for the floor during the cave section.
• Advanced Only: The stun orbs for the most part are not in your way and you can safely fly around them without losing too much time.
• Advanced Only: Be sure to pick up the Vigor between the stun orbs in the cave section. If you are using Surge Forward there you will not be stunned (assuming you have fully upgraded your Dragonriding).

• You can place your Bronze Timelock at the edge of the platform before the race and activate it as the race starts to start on the edge of the cliff and not lose time from having to walk off it.
• The lava shooting up into the air will kill all of your momentum and cannot be avoided with Ohn'ahra's Gusts.
• Advanced Only: As you enter the lava area, go slightly out of your way to the left to pick up the Vigor. You will need it.
• Advanced Only: There is even more lava shooting up. Pathing here will be difficult. Be mindful of this when you use Surge Forward.

• There are lots of sharp turns in this race. Be mindful of this when using Surge Forward as you may travel too far and take an unwanted detour.
• Advanced Only: There are plenty of Vigor Orbs on this race. Spam Surge Forward.

• The first ring of this race is above you. Use Skyward Ascent to grab it.
• Advanced Only: There are some tight turns at the rocks near the start. To save time you can take riskier turns but these risk can often not pay off as if you hit the rocks you lose all momentum.
• Advanced Only: There is a checkpoint near the end of the race which is only partially visible due to a tree blocking it. Aim to hit the top of this ring as you will need to ascend afterwards.

• This race goes through a lot of trees making seeing the next checkpoint quite difficult. Pay attention to the arrow going from your current checkpoint to the next one to know where to fly to next.
• Advanced Only: The stun orbs in this race for the most part are in the path you would want to take. Fly around them and keep momentum up with Surge Forward.
