Viper DPS Gear and Best in Slot — Dawntrail 7.0
On this page, you will find the best gear and best-in-slot items for your Viper DPS in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail (Patch 7.0).
Viper Gearsets
This section covers the gear you will want to wear for your Viper in Dawntrail. The sets below are to be used as a baseline starting from the levels shown (80 or 90) in order to pre-prepare for leveling the classes. Realistically, any items from the same level within 10-20 item levels of the gear shown would be equally effective, but shown here is the best options to start with, if you have the gear! For any of these sets, obviously replace the Ninja weapons with comparable Viper weapons, once they are available. Try and keep tokens available to purchase weapons for the proper level immediately on launch!
Keep in mind - this gear has a high turnover, since it is only going to last less than halfway into your 10 levels of use. As such, you may not have enough Materia to meld it all on your way up. This is both totally normal, and expected. Don't feel pressured to meld your leveling gear!
Best in Slot by Category
At level 80, the best gear available is either Edenmorn from the Eden's Promise raid series or the associated tomestone gear of the same item level - the Cryptlurker's gear. The former requires doing the Savage difficulty of the raids (which can be done unsync'd!) and the latter requires Allagan Tomestones of Poetics. One quick way to obtain the set of tomestone gear (if you have the money to spare) is to purchase a level 80 boost for the Ninja job.
Level 80 Viper Leveling Set
At level 90, the best gear available is item level 660, from the Endwalker raids Anabaseios or the augmented tomestone gear - the Credendum gear. If you lack the tomestones to fully fill your character with the 660 options, you could just buy the un-augmented 650 Credendum gear or collect gear from either Thaleia (item level 650) or from the normal difficulty of the Anabaseios raids (item level 640). All of this gear will be replaced with gear from dungeons as early as level 93 or 95, so it is not necessary to get full 660 gear!
Level 90 Viper Leveling Set
Two sets are provided below. The former is the best possible, using full pentamelds on all crafted gear, while the latter is a budget alternative that utilizes no pentamelds, if you don't have the materia or funds to make that happen.
Pentamelded Crafted - 2.11 GCD
Budget Crafted - 2.12 GCD
Arcadion Savage Best-in-Slot
Portions of these gear sets can only be acquired by completing the current raid tier.
