White Mage Action Changes in Dawntrail
Patch 7.1 Changes
In summary, White Mage mostly got beneficial changes, such as damage potency increases or quality-of-life updates. The most notable change is with Holy III and its precedent Holy, where the cast time is reduced to 1.5 seconds. This allows players to weave an ability oGCD while engaging multiple enemies, without needing to clip their GCD. Additionally, as the cast time is now shorter than the recast time, Holy III also allows players to move at the end of their cast (also known as slidecasting).

Patch 7.0 White Mage Action Changes Summary
Please note: as with any job's opener or rotation, the actions you use depend
on skill potencies and interactions with other players' buffs. Your rotation can also vary based on the type of content you are engaging in.
You may see Opener or Rotation changes throughout Dawntrail, as action potencies are always subject to change due to job balancing.
Use the information listed below as a basic guideline for how White Mage at Lv. 100 may play in Dawntrail:
- With the addition of Aetherial Shift, White Mages will have more freedom of movement while they cast in fights.
Because this is acquired at Lv. 40, White Mages at lower levels can also use this skill. - Presence of Mind grants a new buff called Sacred Sight, which enables you to use the new action, Glare IV.
Glare III does not directly upgrade to Glare IV. Glare IV can replace Presence of Mind on your hotbar.
Sacred Sight gives 3 stacks of Glare IV, which the player can execute within a 30s duration.
Based on this information, we can assume that Glare IV stacks do not necessarily need to be used while under Presence of Mind.
However, because Glare IV has a stronger damage potency output than Glare III (single-target) or Holy III (AoE), players are advised to take advantage of Glare IV within damage buffs as much as possible. - As their strongest damage spell in both single-target and AoE situations, White Mages should still prioritise maximizing Afflatus Misery under damage buffs.
- Both Glare IV and Afflatus Misery are instant cast spells.
As such, players may opt to hold the actions for movement during burst windows.
For the best damage output, these actions should be used before the expiry of your raid buffs or Sacred Sight stacks. - Temperance grants a new additional effect called Divine Grace, which enables players to use the new ability Divine Caress.
This new ability provides a barrier to all players within range for a short period of time. Afterwards, when the barrier fades, players will receive a regen effect called Divine Aura, healing their HP.
This is an excellent addition to White Mage's mitigation kit, as White Mage's previous spells and abilities did not provide both a shield and a heal upon use. However, Divine Caress does. - In addition, Divine Caress is an ability, which enables players to use other spells (such as Dia, Glare III, or Glare IV) and weave Divine Caress before they can recast their GCD.
As the Divine Grace buff is 30s long, you will only be able to cast Divine Caress either:- Within the first 20s of Divine Grace, while Temperance is active, or
- Within the last 10s, after Temperance expires.
This allows players to stack both mitigations for heavy-hitting raidwides, or save Divine Caress for mitigating subsequent damage in the remaining time available for Divine Grace.
